letter from the publisher
Greetings to you all
& welcome to our Winter/Spring 2012edition of the SSM.
Wow, here I sit writing my Publisher’s Letter in the waning days of the winter that wasn’t. Multiple days in the 50’s, less than 8 inches of snow officially to date for the entire season, sounds more like the Mid-Atlantic States than New England. Sure has been a sigh of relief to not have the huge heating bills. Let’s hope that Mother Nature doesn’t pull a fast one on us and say, “Fooled you!”
I am proud to announce that we have just completed 12 years in the production and publication of The South Shore Magazine and are coming up on 3 years broadcasting our radio show, SOUTH SHORE LIVE on 95.9 fm WATD in Marshfield. If you haven’t tuned in yet, we are on Monday nights from 8-10 p.m., just after Monday Night Talk with Senator Bob Hedlund. Come join myself, Laura Noonan, Alan Kearney, Tim Curry and John Turco as we go on our quest around the South Shore to discover who to know, where to go and what to do.
I am very pleased with the balance and feel of this new issue. Our cover and associated article feature the spectacular new South Shore Hospital Orthopedic Center in Hingham. This is a remarkable new state-of-the-art office and surgical facility and yet another example of South Shore Hospital’s commitment to providing the best medical care for the residents of our region.
In “House and Home” we have a great tandem article by Maurajane Rogers featuring the refined, colorful and eclectic home of Ed and Sheila Strickland and a companion article spread with RoomScapes Luxury Design Center featuring amazing work designed by Cam Snyder.
We have two great pieces on local folks: inventor Ray Walker and weather guys Tim Kelley, Rob Gilman, Bob Skilling and Michael Page.
Our “Business and Well Being” section is very well-developed featuring several new companies and organizations such as Capital Residential Real Estate, DTM Law, South Shore Surgical Specialists and Dr. Richard Hill, and rounding out with our long time client, Dr. Rob Leland.
Lastly in our “Great Taste” section, we have several fantastic articles from The Fruit Center, Liquid Brands and their AWESOME Cigar Box wines. I am not a huge wine drinker, but this Cigar Box Malbec is delicious! We also have a terrific article by Maryellen Dever on the vibe and music of the area’s Irish Pub scene and lastly the spectacular visual and tasteful dining experience orchestrated by Chef Rachid Kourda. Bon Appetit! Enjoy our latest creation.
