Welcome to Nix’s Plymouth—an offshoot of the successful Nix’s Mate in Boston at 89 Broad Street and the hottest new restaurant and lounge on the South Shore. Located at 6 Town Wharf on the waterfront, Nix’s brings a little bit of Boston’s upscale culinary scene to Plymouth, complete with outdoor dining, a raw bar, live music, dancing and more. Just a short distance from the historic Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower II Museum, Nix’s Plymouth drops anchor right in the center of it all. Take in views of the waterfront from the deck while enjoying Plymouth’s rich history, dating back to 1620 when the Pilgrims settled “America’s Hometown.”
The newly renovated Nix’s Plymouth held its grand opening on April 12th and is truly breathtaking—the lounge area is gorgeous and features a huge, granite bar and a large and comfortable seating area with high tops and horseshoe-shaped booths. The restaurant is tastefully designed with sophisticated accents to provide the perfect atmosphere and the back room is the perfect place to host your next function or private party. This dining area overlooks the back patio, which has gorgeous view of both the harbor and the high definition flat screen TV’s in case you are there to catch a game. Nix’s giant stadium-style, leveled patio also features a high definition projector so sports games and other events can be watched on a larger-than-life scale.
Nix’s Plymouth is the waterfront’s premier dining destination for modern American cuisine. Paying tribute to the Boston Harbor Islands, the restaurant and bar serves seasonally inspired fare, capturing the true spirit of New England. Snack on appetizers such as The Rice Crusted Calamari with Nix’s pickled peppers over green pea cilantro salad served with mango lime hot sauce or Nix’s Lobster Carmel, which is crisp lobster stretched over a double cream cheddar sauce with sliced chilis and microcress. The menu features a delicious selection of burgers and sandwiches such as The Wedge Burger served blue cheese, smoked bacon, iceberg lettuce, tomato, onion and corn salsa or The Plymouth Rock Roasted Turkey Sandwich served with stuffing, cranberry sage aioli, grilled butternut squash, and gravy on a sweet potato roll. All sandwiches and burgers are served with fried or a house salad and grilled chicken is an available substitute for a traditional burger patty on any of the dishes. Entrees such as Nix’s Fisherman Stew (scallops, shrimp, mussels, clams in a saffron tomato broth with Kaiffier lime leaves on a grilled baguette with wilted chard and onions), the dry rubbed and slowly-smoked Texas Beef Brisket served with baked beans, slaw, BBQ sauce and lava soaked pineapples and The Pan-Seared Scallops with English Pea Risotto in a butternut puree with pomegranate popcorn shoots are to die for. The menu at Nix’s brings a new class of dining and sophistication to the Plymouth waterfront. Additionally, the raw bar features Narragansett Oysters, Island Creek Oysters, Local Littleneck Clams and Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail served with the classic accoutrements cocktail sauce, lemon, horseradish and Mignonette.
The draw of the menu is one reason to visit this new spot—but you can’t beat the location. Conveniently located on Plymouth’s Town Wharf, there are several marinas and local historical attractions within walking distance, plenty of parking and gorgeous scenery to enjoy. Nix’s Plymouth is open every day from 11am to 1am, which makes it a great option for late diners and evening entertainment or for commuters returning from the city looking to enjoy a later cocktail hour and a fun, relaxing atmosphere. The selection from the bar boasts over 50 varieties of wine, 17 draft beers in both 16 and 23 ounce sizes, an ample selection of local and craft bottled beers and cocktails made with top-shelf liquors—so there’s something for everyone here at Nix’s.
The fun, lively and classy ambiance coupled with the superb menu provides a very versatile setting and as Greg Mitchell, General Manager, puts it, “This is Plymouth’s prime destination for nightlife and for entertainment—whether you want to hang out and have a beer and watch a game on one of our 20 high-def TV’s, have a more formal dinner, host a private party or hang out in the lounge or on the patio and order a bottle of wine, this is where you want to be. Nix’s is the perfect destination for every occasion.”
