Wes Baltzer:
Stars’ Shining Star
~ by Stanley Blackmur
A few weeks ago I was in touch with Jim Hodgdon, Managing Partner of Eatwell, Inc. Jim suggested we do an article on the General Managers of Stars, Tosca and Caffé Tosca. Jim said, “This is a very special group of guys who have been with us for a very long time.”
Stars was the first venture of the EATWELL, Inc. team over 22 years ago. Stars took over the long time dining icon, Page’s, in 1989. Right out of the box, Stars’ concept was a great hit with South Shore diners, enjoying the fresh and innovative food ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Stars has always stayed ahead of the curve with new food trends to keep the changing tastes of today’s dining public happy, while maintaining those comfort food traditions that always keep people coming back for more.
Wes runs a tight ship and keeps the front end staff humming at peak efficiency while maintaining a casual family atmosphere.
Aside from a great place to take the family for breakfast, lunch or dinner, Stars also is a great place to catch a game on the several large screen TVs or catch live entertainment nightly midweek through the weekend.
I asked Wes what his most memorable moment was at Stars and he mentioned the Patriots first Super Bowl win and the Red Sox first World Series victory in 86 years. “Both nights were surreal. Stars was packed and obviously the place went wild with both wins.”
Wes’s favorite current menu offerings are the Penne with Chicken or Steak Bomb Egg Rolls. Favorite part of the job? “Meeting and getting to know the customers and employees. Most of the customers are regulars, so you really get to know them. Over the years I have seen young kids grow into young adults and now they have kids!”
So come on by to Stars, say hello to Wes and enjoy a great meal and a great experience…you will be sure to come back!
